Tutorial #20: Dubstep Roll || YOU Can Beatbox Tutorial Series
http://www.facebook.com/theorthobox Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/theorthobox Welcome back to YOU Can Beatbox where, after a 9 month hiatus, we are BACK and ready to go. On todays episode we're learning the dubstep roll. This sound has been made popular by beatboxers like Babeli from Germany and really shines when you have a microphone, but we'll get to that in a minute. And luckily this sound is pretty easy to learn how to do, so lets get to it. The fundamental part of this sound is being able to roll the letter R on your tongue. The basic premise of rolling an R is to breath out while placing your tongue lightly on the roof of your mouth. Breathing out forces your tongue to bounce up and down on the roof of your mouth, getting the sound we're looking for. Now for some practice. Close your eyes and imagine that you're sofia vergara, ricki martin or anyone of spanish heritage. Now channel your inner latino and add some spice to the sound of a cat purring. [Demo]. Well now that we're both uncomfortable and we know how to roll the letter R, you basically know how to do the dubstep roll. To get the dubsteppy sound to it, just force your tongue into the roof of your mouth to make it as harsh and forceful as possible while still keeping your tongue going up and down. Once your using extra force on your tongue, change the shape of your mouth to get different consistencies and sounds and vary what the dubstep roll sounds like. And here are two practice beats: 1) Brrr B Pfrrr x2 2) Brrr Brrr Pf x2 Like I mentioned earlier, this sound really shines when youre on a mic so using this mic and an amp, here's what it sounds like. Well, thats about it for this sound but definitely leave any questions or comments below about tips or techniques. And if you haven't done so yet please like this video and subscribe to the channel for more beatboxing tutorials and awesomeness. THIS has been YOU Can Beatbox, next time we'll be learning Reeps One's inward drag technique.
