Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=5331563 Fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/theorthobox Welcome Back to YOU Can Beatbox. Todays episode revisits an old topic that deserves another look: inward drag. And if, like, you could, like, like this video and give it a, like, thumbs up, like that would be great. And one more note before the sound, if you haven't seen yet, I recently launched a patreon account so please do check that out if you're able to contribute to the success of these tutorials. You're probably asking why we're revisiting inward drag if we've already learned the sound back in tutorial #21 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSebvGPm6Ko). The reason is because I was wrong and we didn't really learn inward drag. When i made that tutorial, it was before I fully understood the mechanics of what makes up inward drag. So today, I wanted to provide a 100% fully correct tutorial. So here it is. Inward drag is a technique that is made up of sharp, hard inward breaths that make both a cool flowing sound and another way to intake air. It sounds like this [demo]. The mouth position that I've familiar with for it the same for the inward K snare. You place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth like this. Unlike the inward snare where your goal is to pull in one snapping motion [demo], for inward drag you want to pull air past the sides in a fluid motion [demo]. Let's try one practice beat to get the positioning down: - B in^ Pf in^ x4 Once you have the positioning and sound down, for many people the next step is to increase how fast you can do this technique that you're taking multiple drags in between sounds, instead of [demo] you want [demo]. The way that i break up the drags is by quickly cutting off the airflow by touching my top teeth on my lower lip. Caution: do not bite your lip. It should be a very gentle touching and allow you to semi-stop the airflow so that you can get some definition on each individual inward drag like this [demo]. To increase your speed with this technique, just keep practicing at the edge of your comfort zone, maybe using a metronome or trying to do inward drag along with a song. Here's the original inward drag beat to practice: - B in^ in^ t in^ in^ Pf in^ in^ t in^ in^ x2 Comment below with any questions or suggestions you have to help people out. And please subscribe to the channel and like this video. Thanks again for watching, this is YOU Can Beatbox and next time we're going to take a look at improving your beatboxing stamina.
