Miguel de la Varga The repo for this tutorial is in GitHub: https://github.com/cgre-aachen/gempy_workshops.git There is a static version of the tutorial in Curvenote: https://curvenote.com/@leguark/transform2021-gempy-tutorial/!VVR1a4OSdrcopFaEUojf If you're watching live, the softwareunderground.org/slack channel is #t21-mon-gempy The objective of this course is to teach geoscientist, engineers, and researchers how to start building geological models using the open-source Python library GemPy. During these workshop we will cover two main areas: 1) GemPy essentials: installation steps, how to create a simple model from scratch and using the built-in visualization tools. 2) Data preprocessing in Python: how we can use other libraries from the software underground community -- e.g. welly, subsurface -- to read and process the data into valid data structures that GemPy can use as an input. By the end of course, participants will be able to: - Import some row data from files, - manipulate and visualize this raw data and, - using this data to build a geological model. 00:00 Introduction 05:15 Installation 15:49 Part I: Your first GemPy model (refresher) 32:46 Unconformities and Faults 42:03 Topography 44:27 Part II: Subsurface to GemPy 48:20 Subsurface: Centralizing data management for the Geoscientific Stack 1:00:00 Part II: Welly to Subsurface 1:06:49 Finding borehole bases 1:15:40 GemPy model from Subsurface and Welly 1:30:00 Fixing a model 1:38:01 Adding many more orientations 1:43:50 Wrap-up
