With 3D printing, engineering designs can be prototyped very quickly. As with most prototypes, the questions of form, function, and suitability for a purpose can be answered. Strain gages can be used on 3D models to help answer questions related to the strength of the design. In this Micro-Measurements® iNotes™ video, Jim Johnson shows correct installation of a precabled strain gage to a 3D printed plastic article, provided courtesy of Futek Advanced Sensors, Inc. Micro-Measurements® offers all of the materials necessary for successful strain measurements, including training.
