TWO Ways to Subtract Linear Expressions | 7.EE.A.1 ππ
In this math video we will learn two ways to subtract linear expressions. We will review step by step how to simplify a linear expression using the vertical method as well as the horizontal method. When using the vertical method, we will rewrite the linear expression with one expression on top of the other. We will be sure that our like terms are "stacked" as we rewrite the expression vertical. We will use the subtraction rule - change subtract to add the opposite. We will add like terms to simplify the expression and identify the equivalent expression from our answer choices. We will also review the steps to using the vertical method. Again, we will begin by rewriting using the subtraction rule - change subtraction to add the opposite. We will be sure to apply this rule to all terms inside the parentheses. We will identify like terms and add. We will identify the correct equivalent expression from the answer choices.
