TWTS: Jehovah Rapha
In the story of the paralytic that was lowered through the roof by his friends, we see that they did not question Jesus' ability to heal. They knew He was the Healer. But before Jesus brought healing physically, He brought healing spiritually. Oh and by the way, that paralytic still had to do something as a precursor to his healing too. He had to agree with his friends to take him and to be lowered through a roof. His faith was included in the faith of his friends. There are many different reasons for sickness: sometimes it's a spirit of infirmity as mentioned in one story, other times it's judgment, sometimes there are underlying issues of the heart like unforgiveness or bitterness, there are times like Job where it's an attack to test our faith, sometimes it's generational curses, and sometimes it's just being in a fallen world. So just as the reasons for sickness vary, so does the method and timing of healing vary in each person. But God is ALWAYS most concerned about the heart condition and our character first. So when we follow the principals laid out in Scripture as we read today, God does the healing work in our hearts first. And sometimes we see a gradual healing and sometimes an immediate healing and other times, the healing we see is in Heaven. It's not about the next breakthrough and the next mountain, it's about drawing close to Him in every season and finding the joy through the struggles while looking forward to His healing. God can heal, there is no question. Don't get your eyes focused on the chaos and trials and "waves", focus on Jehovah Rapha. Walk with Him and in the midst of the chaos and uneven ground, you will find sustenance, shalom, safety. You may even find that you ride the waves together and enjoy the rolls under your feet until at least you come to the boat and He stills the storm. But keep your eyes on Him and He will bring you through it and others will be a witness to your testimony that will forever impact them. Your joy in suffering may be the opportunity that leads others to Christ.
