Ubi Caritas
My father was a choir conductor. Choral music was one of his biggest passions in life. From a young age, he taught me what it means to feel music deep within the soul. When he passed away, I felt that forming a choir to perform at his Celebration of Life (2018) was the best way to honor him and his legacy. I chose “Ubi Caritas” by Maurice Duruflé because I had first heard it as a child of 9 years old in Okinawa, Japan, where my father had created one of his many international choirs. I often dreamt about this song. Growing up going to my father’s rehearsals and concerts was a magical experience; he wove many voices into a beautiful tapestry of music. I conducted this piece the same way he did. Thank you to my dear, talented friends for lending their beautiful voices. You made my dreams come true. I am forever grateful to you.
