Ude garami is a judo joint lock targeting the elbow and shoulder by entangling the opponent's arm. Often applied from standing or ground positions,(in Judo applied from standing position is under IJF rules not allowed), it can be transitioned from various grips. The technique involves twisting the opponent’s arm behind their back to create leverage. Ude garami is legal in judo competitions ( only in Ne waza) but must be executed with control to avoid injury.
Variations include standing and ground versions, and it's also used in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and sambo for submissions. It's a dangerous but highly effective technique.
