UE5 Enhanced Input Gameplay Abilities -- Pressed Trigger vs Down Trigger
Three example Gameplay Abilities: On Pressed, While Down & Always Active This quick video shows three simple UE5 Gameplay Abilities hooked into Lyra Starter Game's Enhanced Input system. -- On Pressed is an instant ability, ending instantly, when the input key is first pressed. -- While Down activates immediately on press, and stays active until the input is released. -- Always Active activates on spawn and hooks into every Pressed and Released input event. Note that this is specific to Lyra's implementation of the Enhanced Input System. There are several different implementations of Enhanced Input, each with different pros and cons. This video covers the Lyra implementation, which is more limited than some of the other possibilities. If you are using Lyra, this is how it currently works in 5.0.3 release. If you have another implementation of Enhanced Input, your results may vary.
