In Part 14, I’ve implemented a new advanced 1080p video camera with much greater focus depth (over 4 time wider), and overall improved video quality. Created using a customized camera, lens and modified sensor (based on a 4K sensor). This sample video also enables you to see how I see out my cab window when displayed on a 43 inch monitor. ADDED NOTE: I've received requests on the technical details of this camera. Though I know most are fellow hobbyist interested in new ideas, some are not trying to get a product to market. I enjoy the hobby and like looking for new ways to expand it. Like the rest of my DCC throttle project, I've invested many R&D hours and dollars (much which was lost to ideas that failed). FOV: Unlike off the shelf cameras, this customized camera is designed for HO scale use. Design goals: 1) Great pictue, color and low grain noise. Remember this is for a 43 inch monitor where every thing shows. 2) Wide focus (where it's required). This can not be provided in conventional measurements because the modifications made it very abstract. If I left the camera off my layout the image would make you sick 3) As best I could with size constraints, the Point Of View close to the windshield where an engineer would be setting. The F7A nose in this video is from a picture a took inside WP917 I rented at Portola California. When I mount the camera on drive platform I hope to push the horizontal offset so the view looks more like your looking from the right side of the cab.
