Ultrasonic Welding is a commonly used process for joining metals and plastics. Ultrasonic welding is used for joining soft metals such as copper, aluminum, and gold; can be used for welding nickel but not as easy. Ultrasonic welding can also be used to weld plastics. Amorphous plastics are the easiest to weld; crystalline plastics and those with fillers are bit more difficult for welding. UW can also be used for staking and insertion of metal connectors and bushings.
