We bought 27 Cornish Cross for the freezer, and 10 ISA Brown pullets because they brought the price down by over half from TSC.
The Cornish Cross will go to Freezer Camp at the end of October, and the ISA Browns will be rehomed as layers with a friend, minus the 2 that I highly suspect are roosters.
We've been toying with the idea of meat birds for a while, and the relaxing of food safety standards due to Covid-19 pushed us over. I just can't eat chicken that has cancer. That's a hard Nope. We won't be saving money or time, but we will have peace of mind.
