“Under the Same Flag” is a song about veterans, freedom, disagreement, and the hope that Americans can still find a way to stand side by side. This song began from a place of hurt and frustration after seeing veterans judged or dismissed because of how they voted. But instead of turning that anger into more division, I wanted the song to become something more healing — a reminder that veterans did not serve for one political party. They served for the freedoms we all share. Veterans come from every background, every belief, and every side of the political aisle. They may not always agree with each other, but they understand service, sacrifice, duty, and the oath they once swore. A vote does not erase a veteran’s service. A disagreement does not make someone a traitor. At its heart, this song is about remembering that we are still Americans under the same flag. We can disagree. We can debate. We can feel hurt.
