Under The Static
There’s a light underneath the static… I can feel it calling me forward I was raised by the sound of breaking things quietly learning how to disappear inside survival machinery but somewhere under all the noise a voice kept singing: lift your head the sky is still enormous. And maybe— I was never meant to stay small enough to fit inside their fear maybe my heart survived because it knew I’d need it later I— I wanna run where the horizon opens I wanna feel the earth shake underneath me hands to the heavens wind in my lungs finally becoming who I was before the world got heavy And oh— even the stars move lonely sometimes still they burn still they arrive Every dream I buried left fingerprints on my ribs every version of myself still fighting to live I hear them now like echoes through water saying: keep going… you’re closer than you think And maybe— freedom isn’t painless maybe it’s just choosing motion anyway maybe hope sounds like your own heartbeat returning I— I wanna stand where the ocean touches heaven I wanna scream my name into the blue light arms wide open fear falling off finally believing I was never born to live half alive And oh— even broken wings remember flying that’s the miracle of being alive If my soul was made of color— let it flood the sky If my voice was made for trembling— let it shake the night I’m not afraid of becoming anymore I— I wanna run past the edges of the old world I wanna love my life before it’s over heart like a lighthouse burning through storms finally arriving inside my own spirit And oh— if heaven hears me let it hear this: I was here. I was alive.
