In this video we illustrate how 7 types of simple transfer functions contribute to a bode plot. We refer to these as ‘components’ and will cover the following: 1. Single real pole 2. Single real zero 3. Pole at the origin (integrator) 4. Zero at the origin (differentiator) 5. Pair of complex conjugate poles 6. Pair of complex conjugate zeros 7. Constant/static gain We show how to sketch approximate bode plot for each of these components which will yield insight and understanding into their behavior and contribution to the frequency response of a system. Topics and time stamps: 1:12 – Introduction and motivation 8:02 – Single real pole 43:46 – Single real zero 57:26 – Pole at origin (integrator) 1:06:57 – Zero at origin (differentiator) 1:12:34 – Pair of complex conjugate poles 2:06:45 – Pair of complex conjugate zeros 2:19:32 – Constant/static gain 2:21:45 – Summary and conclusions Lecture notes and code can be downloaded from https://github.com/clum/YouTube/tree/main/Controls13 Additional videos in this series: -Introduction to Frequency Domain Analysis (https://youtu.be/yuT4Mg2NIQs) -Introduction to Bode Plots (https://youtu.be/KX7GNqy3k7w) -Resonant Frequency of a Dynamic System (https://youtu.be/0ZUp07xP--A) -Understanding and Sketching Individual Bode Plot Components (https://youtu.be/gA-KOk3SAb0) -Bode Plots of Complex Transfer Functions (https://youtu.be/cBMgRWOzLnw) All Control Theory videos in a single playlist (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxdnSsBqCrrF9KOQRB9ByfB0EUMwnLO9o) #Control #ControlTheory You can support this channel via Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/christopherwlum or by clicking on the ‘Thanks’ button underneath the video.
