Underwired bra draft in an open-source pattern making program Valentina/Seamly2D #tutorial
In this video, I'll demonstrate how to draft a basic underwired bra in Valentina, an open-source pattern-making program. These instructions can also be applied to drafting a pattern in Seamly2D, though please be aware that some Valentina-specific features may not be available there. If you prefer traditional methods, the instructions can be applied to hand-drafting as well. For drafting this pattern I've combined two construction methods. For the band pattern I used the method shown in "Bare Essentials: Bras: Construction and Pattern Design for Lingerie Design" by Jennifer Lynne Matthews-Fairbanks. For the cup drafting I used the construction from "Patternmaking for Underwear Design" by Kristina Shin. I've made adjustments to adapt these methods for digital pattern making in Valentina and my own needs. The measurements of this pattern are in centimetres but you can easily transform them into inches within Tape.
