What Close Call does (in plain English) Close Call watches for strong nearby transmitters (like a cop car, helicopter, security, event staff, etc.) and pops the frequency up on your screen when it detects one. It works best when the transmitter is close/strong, because the signal must be much stronger than the normal RF noise in the area. Close Call modes (pick the right one) Priority: checks aggressively and can interrupt scanning to show hits. DND (Do Not Disturb): checks during gaps so it won’t interrupt conversations as much (best everyday mode). Off: Close Call disabled. Turn on Close Call (FAST method) Press and hold FUNC (green side button) ~3 seconds. On the bottom of the screen, press the soft key labeled Close Call (the physical button directly under the on-screen word). Keep pressing to cycle DND → Priority → Off. Stop on the mode you want and confirm you see the CC indicator on the display. Turn on Close Call (MENU method) Press MENU. Scroll to Close Call (or Srch/CloCall Opt depending on your menu layout). Select Set CC Mode and choose Off / DND / Priority. Press MENU to exit and look for the CC icon. Review & save hits (what Close Call finds) Close Call can store recent hits temporarily, and you can review them in the Search/Close Call options menu (look for Review CC Hits) and save a frequency you like into your Favorites/Quick Favorites so you can scan it later. Pro tips Better antenna + higher ground = more hits. DND is usually the smoothest mode for normal scanning.
