The last example problem for unit 3.2 comes in the form of a challenge problem (or you can think of it as a "practice test" problem). Two capacitors, a resistor, and a switch, are all connected in a series loop. The first capacitor is initially charged to store some amount of potential energy,; the second capacitor is initially uncharged. At time t=0, the switch is closed, and the circuit eventually reaches a steady state. How much energy is dissipated as heat in the resistor after a long time has passed?
