This option isn't readily visible in the main help pages. So I'm helping you find it. If you have had a client on upwork for over 2 years, the client can buy out your contract for $1. Apparently it needs to be initiated by the client, not the freelancer.
There are many good reasons to continue using upwork with your clients for many years, but when those reasons run out, it's time to ditch upwork.
