Usaramwe Mwachewe
A hunter wakes up early in the morning each day. His assegai and axe in hand, he ventures into the woods to find food for his family. He’s so amazingly prolific, each evening, for years, he comes home with more than he can comfortably carry. One day, he fails to make a catch… all of a sudden, he starts to doubt his abilities and thinks he should quit. Uncle, are you suddenly a bad hunter because of one bad day? Should one bad day make you doubt yourself and define who you are as a hunter? Days are not all the same. Everyday is different. Yesterday came and went. Tomorrow is a new day… a chance to claim another victory. Did you fail to make a sale today, or the last few days, for that matter? That one deal that fell through. Did this relationship not work out? Don’t let that define you and steal your confidence. Don’t let up. Don’t give up. Self doubt is endemic in us as humans. Our minds can choose to focus on, and believe one word of criticism or ridicule over a thousand words of praise and affirmation. I wrote this song to remind myself not to wallow in my failures and setbacks, but to keep believing and moving forward. I hope this song does the same for you.
