Flapper Peening is becoming more popular every year in the peening world but it's important to remember that maintaining tool RPM is essential when performing the process. Spec call for the RPM to be continually monitored. Currently most spec-conscious operators keep a digital tach handy and check the RPM on regular intervals. This can be difficult, especially if an adjustment is needed. A stroboscope can make setting and monitoring tool RPM easy without having to purchase an expensive closed-loop system.
