In this video, I reflect on the International Baccalaureate’s professional learning resource “Unraveling the enigma: Mastering complex questions and Perplexity for creative problem-solving.” The resource explores how MYP educators can use Perplexity.ai to support students in developing complex questions, researching from multiple sources, evaluating information, and synthesizing ideas into meaningful learning products. A key idea in the resource is that strong research begins with strong questions. Students are encouraged to create complex questions by combining three important ingredients: concepts, context, and content. Once students have developed these questions, they can use Perplexity to explore different responses, sources, perspectives, and possible interpretations. What I find powerful about this approach is that AI is not used as a shortcut. Instead, it becomes a tool for inquiry, critical thinking, source evaluation, and deeper understanding. Students are not simply collecting answers; they are learning how to question, compare, analyze, and synthesize. The resource also reminds teachers to guide students in checking the sources provided by Perplexity, including clicking on the cited articles, comparing quick and detailed responses, and thinking carefully about reliability, relevance, and bias. In this video, I discuss: How Perplexity can support student research Why complex questions matter in inquiry-based learning How to combine concept, context, and content when forming questions How AI can expose students to multiple perspectives Why source evaluation is essential when using AI tools How students can synthesize research into biographies, infographics, or museum boxes How AI can support creative problem-solving without replacing student thinking Credit: This video is based on the International Baccalaureate’s professional learning resource “Unraveling the enigma: Mastering complex questions and Perplexity for creative problem-solving.” All credit for the original source material goes to the International Baccalaureate Organization. #AIinEducation #PerplexityAI #AIForTeachers #TeachingWithAI #AIintheClassroom #IB #IBEducation #InternationalBaccalaureate #IBMYP #MYP #MYPEducators #MYPTeachers #IBTeachers #InquiryBasedLearning #CriticalThinking #ResearchSkills #SourceEvaluation #DigitalLiteracy #CreativeProblemSolving #StudentInquiry #ConceptBasedLearning #EdTech #EducationalTechnology #TeacherTools #ResponsibleAI #MediaLiteracy #InformationLiteracy #StudentAgency #TeacherProfessionalDevelopment #FutureOfEducation
