Using Stepic to Control iPad Music Apps - Learn How
Stepic (@devicemeister ) is a great and flexible MIDI FX sequencer only available for dektop; MacOS and Windows as a VST 3 and AU plugin. Have you ever wanted to use Stepic to sequence a music app that is only available for iPad? Well you can and this video shows you how with Logic Pro 12 (will work for Logic 10.x and 11.x too). The video setys out the simple steps from connecting your iPad to your Mac via Audio MIDI Setup, through to capturing ther iPad-generated audio in Logic Pro. The technique works for most MIDI FX effects in Logic Pro 12 and music apps on iPad. It uses IDAM. IDAM (Inter-Device Audio and MIDI) is a protocol that allows audio and MIDI data to be sent between iOS devices and macOS computers using a USB connection. It enables users to record digital audio and exchange MIDI messages without needing special cables or audio interfaces. Martin Sturtzer @MartinStuertzer has a great Stepic v1.6 tutorial video (https://youtu.be/ESfUiRX2wTM?si=5zW3utsZRgOF8dBt), which includes a description of how he created the Glitch Percussion Stepic preset used in this video. It's well worth watching if you are not overly familiar with Stepic. Audiokit's @analogmatthew free Synth One J6 iPad-based synth is used and controlled by Stepic. A short demonstrattion of using Fugue Machine Rubato @alexandernaut to similarly sequence the same iPad synth is shown. Although FMR is a universal app (works on iPhone, iPad and MacOS) if you are creating your song in Logic on MacOS it can be easier to sequence and record your iPad using the technique shown in this video rather than create a stem on iPad and then export/import that stem into Logic on your Mac. #musicproduction #sounddesign #electronicmusic #synth #logicpro #logicprox #stepicmidifx #ipadmusic #ipadmusician #ipadmusicproduction
