RCA 244 asked for some basic explanation on variable capacitors, such as might be used for making a simple crystal radio, or similar. So we got out a number of variable capacitors, and have done our best to describe them. There are many other types, including high-power transmitting ones with big, widely separated plates, but we don't have any of those - but they can be seen easily enough by googling.
