Vellum Over Boards

A demonstration by Glenn Bartley of how to cover a book with calf vellum (parchment). Glenn Bartley is a professional bookbinder and gold finisher. He trained at Guildford and Oxford establishing his own workshop in Culham, Oxfordshire in 1991. Winner of the 1996 DB Bookbinding Competition, Glenn was elected a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders in 1999. He is currently Head of the Royal Bindery at Windsor Castle. Day 2, Session 1 of Designer Bookbinders Festival at the Bodleian Library in Oxford, UK. The event was held at Sir Victor Blank Lecture Theatre, Weston Library on Saturday 9 July 2022. Part of the celebrations to mark the opening of the exhibition “A Gathering of Leaves – the fourth Designer Bookbinders International Competition 2022”.
