That means, after death, you will have life. you will life in heaven, but we cannot earn it, only by believing in god. Why should you believe in Jesus: He died for you. He is god, he doesn't need us and he still died for us, because he loves us. He doesn't love it, when we do bad things, but he loves us. Like a father loves his son. Even the son isn't obidience all the time. But you cannot get to heaven, if you don't follow him. I don't wanna threath, this is just the gospel. After all the things you did, you maybe think, god doesn't want you, but he does. Come to him. You can talk about everything to him, every secrect, he will wash your sins and he will give you good thoughts.
