VFX Done Right | Lighting for CGI 101

Welcome Back to Set! In today's episode, we're joined by Clinton @pwnisher Jones alongside our very own Valentina Vee @valentinavee! Visual Effects are ubiquitous in contemporary content and films, but a lot of filmmakers don't fully grasp the relationship between lighting and visual effects. Well-thought-out lighting helps seamlessly blend computer-generated images, and purposeful practical lights can make CGI objects feel completely real and tangible. But how do you know if you're doing it right? Clinton, whose background at Rocket Jump and Corridor Digital, serves as our VFX Supervisor. His sole purpose on set is to communicate with the department heads how to best capture footage that will be easy to work with in post-production. He peels back the curtain on some of the tools he uses to create photorealistic images, and why having a VFX Supervisor on set is critical at any level.
