In Vienna we visited the Karl Marx-Hof, built between 1927 and 1930 for social housing. A great symbol of the power of working class people. Developed by people with a strong vision. Giant inner gardens, laundrettes, two day care centres, shops, a youthclub, a library, two public baths, postoffice, pharmacy and school dental care. Every apartment has a balcony. 1400 Apartments, Build for 5000 people. The architect was Karl Ehn. Red Vienna (Rotes Wien) lasted from 1919 till 1934. At the opening in 1930 mayor Karl Zeits spoke: 'Wenn wir einst nicht mehr sind, werden diese Steine für uns sprechen'.
