View Data Model allows us to see the structure of the data source from the Worksheet. This option is while in the context of the viz. This is a better method as compared to the standard method of switching back and forth between a viz and the data source tab to verify how tables are related, we can open a dialog while on a sheet tab. Like the calculation editor, it is a Modeless dialog box which means that we can interact with the viz with it open. With Hide Unused Tables turned on if we make any changes to the viz like adding or removing fields will automatically update the View Data Model diagram. This new functionality is available under the Worksheet menu in Tableau Desktop. This feature is available from Tableau Version 2025.1.0 onwards. ⏱ TIMESTAMPS 00:00 - Video Intro 00:44 - Topic Intro 01:21 - Previously where could the Data Model be viewed? 02:08 - Where can the View Data Model accessed in the Tableau Workspace and how to Turn it on? 03:20 - Hide Unused Tables 03:51 - Example 1: When all Tables are being used in the Data Model 04:52 - Example 2: When some Tables are not being used in the Data Model 05:36 - Example 3: When there is a Pass-through table in the Data Model Given below is the link for Tableau Help documentation of the View Data Model topic: https://help.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/viewdatamodel.htm If you found the video useful, please do Like, Share & Subscribe.
