Vision 3D Version 1.3 Released! Update Video

This update to Vision-3D introduces a range of usability improvements, performance enhancements, and new features designed to streamline workflows and improve scene presentation. One of the key upgrades is the addition of an interactive level of detail system, which significantly improves performance when working with large point clouds (around 20 million points or more), allowing smooth navigation without needing to downsample data. The interface has also been simplified by grouping positioning tools and tag options under single icons, including new audio and URL tags for added context within a scene. A new lock feature has been added to point clouds to prevent accidental movement, which is especially useful in complex scenes with multiple overlapping objects. Camera controls have been expanded with adjustable field of view settings and manual near and far clipping options, giving users more control over how scenes are viewed. Viewpoints have also been enhanced, allowing users to define focal points, control whether transitions are animated or instant, and even lock the camera in place to simulate fixed perspectives such as a driver or witness viewpoint. The most significant addition in this update is the introduction of Scene States, which allow users to save and switch between different visibility configurations within a single scene. This makes it easy to present multiple scenarios—such as different vehicle positions or stages of a crash—without duplicating the entire scene. These states can also be carried into the viewer, making them particularly useful for presentations or courtroom demonstrations. Future updates are expected to expand Scene States further to include object position and orientation changes, not just visibility. Overall, this release focuses on improving performance, simplifying the user experience, and enhancing the ability to communicate complex scenes effectively.
