Vision Correction Goal/Target: Correct vision loss/impairment by retraining the visual system as well as balancing the muscles that attach to the eyeball through relaxation of the whole body. It will be important to track your vision changes with a Snellen Chart or by going to an Ophthalmologist. How to Track progress with Snellen chart: Put up a Snellen Chart and stand 20 feet away in an area with good lighting. First cover the right eye, then left eye, and lastly read the chart with both eyes. While you cover the right eye first, read the lowest line you can read with ease. Repeat this with the left eye and then both eyes. Results: If you can read line 8, your vision is 20/20, which means that you can see the same line of letters at 20 feet that a person with normal vision can see at 20 feet. However, if you can only read line 6 with the left eye. This means you have 20/30 in this eye, which means you can see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision can see at 30 feet. Exercises: at least 15-30 minutes daily. 1) In a seated, standing, or lying position, Deep breathing in through the nose out through the mouth. As you breathe in, stomach should rise first then chest expands. As you exhale simply just let breath go. (1 minute). 2) Repeated Yawning to force blood into eyes and further relax. Open mouth as wide as is comfortably possible. (1 minute). 3) Massage/tapping around the eyes. Massage or tap with your fingers around the eyes. (1 minute) 4) Do full neck stretch while breathing. (lateral, rotation) 4 deep breaths in each direction. (see above for full description) 5) Arm clasped in front arm circles. Put palms together in front of you draw a large circle in the air in front of your body. (30 seconds) 6) Yogic eye stretches/movement: 7) Palming 2 possible positions: 8) Nose drawing Lazy 8 while deep breathing. Look at an infinity sign placed 5 feet in front of you. With your nose, trace the symbol while looking at the different points on the symbol. (2 minutes) 9) Cross Crawl while breathing (standing march): While breathing, look straight ahead take right leg up to a 90 degree angle bent at the knee, while bringing your left arm and meeting in front of you and swinging your right arm backwards behind your body. Then do the same with the other leg and hands. (2 minutes) 10) Lazy 8 while doing cross crawl march: While breathing and doing the above described cross crawl pattern. Take your nose and draw the figure 8 in the air. (2 minutes) 11) Shifting: Stand or sit with thumb up in front of your face, focus on your thumb, then shift your focus to something far away, then something further away. (2 minutes) 12) Fusion: Take a string with a bead placed every 6 inches and hold one end to your nose while the other end is secured at a point a few feet in front of you at eye level. Now sift your gaze from one point to the next You should eventually see the string forming a cross at the beads if you are doing it correctly. (2 minutes) Color of strings are not important 13) Long Swing left to right eyes open. Standing. While deeply breathing, turn upper body to the right while letting arms naturally swing as they will. Don’t focus on anything in particular. Simply notice the movement of the vision as you turn. Now turn to the left. Then look at thumb in front of you and notice movement as you turn left and right. (2 minutes) 14) Long swing eyes closed. Standing. While deeply breathing, turn upper body to the right while letting arms naturally swing as they will. Pretend to notice the movement of the vision as you turn. Now turn to the left. (2 minutes) 15) Hold thumb up and lean side to side while maintaining eye focus on thumb. Simply notice background shifting. (2 minutes) 16) Sunning with Eyes Closed and deep breathing: (sun up and/or sun down) softly, move head left and right and feel the sun on your face and eyes. Then tilt head up towards sun keeping your eyes closed place your hands with fingers spread out about 5 inches in front of your eyes and cross your hands over one another rapidly. Feel the light come through and hit your face. (30 seconds) 17) Sunning with Eyes Open and deep breathing: (sun up and/or sun down): softly, move head left and right and feel the sun on your face and eyes. Then tilt head up towards sun keeping your eyes open, place your hands with fingers spread out about 5 inches in front of your eyes and cross your hands over one another rapidly. Feel the light come through and hit your face and eyes. It will be uncomfortable. (30 seconds) 18) Palming immediately after sunning (see 7 above). (2 minutes)
