This is a video tutorial on how to think about plotting complex-valued functions.
I start by reviewing how we plot single variable, real-valued functions. In preparing for plotting complex-valued functions of one variable, it is better to consider two separate real number lines than the usual perpendicular axes of the Cartesian plane.
The video lecture continues by investigating different ways to plot two simple complex functions. These are the complex conjugate and the square of the complex variable.
