Visualizing poverty
Welcome to my video on how to map poverty in India with NASA data in R. In this video, you will learn how to download the NASA GRDI data, which is a global index of deprivation for each pixel on Earth; use the terra package to read and manipulate spatial data in R; apply zonal statistics to calculate the average deprivation for each state in India; and, finally, use ggplot2 and rayshader to create 2D and 3D maps of poverty in India 0:00 Prologue 1:22 Intro 02:10 Load libraries 05:57 Indian states shapefile 07:01 Official Indian states shapefile 10:09 Plot Indian states 10:20 NASA Global Relative Deprivation Index (GRDI) 14:38 Download GRDI 16:39 Unzip GRDI 17:05 Load GRDI 17:49 Crop GRDI by Indian states 20:24 Show Indian GRDI 20:30 Zonal statistics 23:21 Merge Indian states and average GRDI 25:06 Choropleth map 35:43 Show choropleth map 36:43 Render scene with rayshader 44:08 Render object with rayshader 47:56 3D poverty map of India 48:18 Closing Check the full code in my GitHub repo: https://github.com/milos-agathon/visualize-poverty-r Follow my work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/milos_makes_maps Let's connect on X (ex-Twitter): https://twitter.com/milos_agathon If you like my work, consider buying me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/milospopovic Video credits: ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Videos For Need- No Copyright https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBkIppZaqbM8rav_-uym1kw Poverty | Poor People HD Stock Videos |Free stock footage | Free HD Videos - No Copyright | ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Music credits: --------------------------------- "Middle Child - Miss You" is under a Creative Commons (CC BY-SA 3.0) license. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlTKzeQB7tE&t=0s Music promoted by BreakingCopyright: https://bit.ly/bkc-miss-you
