VR is growing up.
VR is growing up. Batman is proof. Let me explain. Thanks to KIWI DESIGN for sponsoring this video! Referral link: https://www.kiwidesign.com/?ref=adncrsmm DISCOUNT CODE: VIRTUALBRO In 2024 you can buy a Quest 3S in a bundle that comes with the Batman Arkham Shadow game, meaning now the price to fully immerse yourself as Batman is only $299. That’s over $500 cheaper than when the first Batman Arkham VR game released on the original PlayStation VR just 8 years ago, and this time it includes hours upon hours of gameplay because this isn’t just a short tech demo, this is a fully fledged Arkham game. I’ve said this before but we truly are finally moving away from tech demos and sandboxes that defined this generation of VR. The scope of the upcoming VR games like Batman Arkham Shadow, Alien Rogue Incursion, Metro Awakening, and Behemoth are proof to me that we’ve entered a new era of virtual reality gaming. And I’m definitely glad about that, but…for some reason a part of will definitely miss this era. It’s awesome to be around when a new medium is still developing. No one is quite sure the best way to do anything, so we see all sorts of new ideas and experimentation. Some ideas work better than others of course, and as the medium advances we start to see more developers pulling from the same toolbook. I mean just look at the influence Half Life Alyx has had on every VR game released after. This has really been the era of figuring out what works in VR (and what doesn’t) and I for one am glad to have been around for it. I think in time those of us who have been playing VR for years or even grew up with these kinds of games will look back on this time with a sense of nostalgia. Despite how short lived many of those experiences were back on the PSVR1, I don’t think I’ll never forget the first time I was attacked by those sharks, or the first zombie horde I fought, or that time I flew an x-wing. You know that phrase or meme that’s like “Aw I was born in the wrong generation”? Yeah, that’s not me. I was born at the perfect time to watch VR grow up. And if you're reading this, you were too! BTW if you’re new here…Hi! I’m VIRTUAL BRO and I’m always looking for the very best VR games to recommend and showcase!
