The session explains how to create your first shell script using a command-line editor, understand file permissions, and execute scripts through both sourcing and direct execution methods. You will learn the differences between these two approaches and how they influence process IDs and environment variables. The lecture also introduces the use of built-in variables such as $0, $1, $2, and others to handle command-line arguments effectively. Toward the end, you will explore loops and other core scripting features that help automate repetitive tasks. By the end of this session, you will be comfortable writing and running your own basic bash scripts and understanding their execution behavior in Linux.
