Not sure there is a more beautiful place on earth than the Wallowa Mountains and Wallowa Lake. Growing up here never made this connection until after college and returning home to see my parents for Thanksgiving one year. As Henry Kinsley sang, "crossing that county line was a special treat" and the impact those mountains made on me that day was over the top. LaFaye found a special cabin at Wallowa Lake and would have sold her soul for it, so I bought it to save family embarrassment and rescue her reputation. We call it The River House since it borders the Wallowa River, and I am consciously back home when there.
