Walnut Side Table Build

In this video, I build a custom walnut nightstand with 2 drawers, designed to be placed next to an Eames chair. This fine furniture woodworking project is made from solid Black Walnut, with Hard Maple drawer sides for contrast. The design is inspired by furniture makers from around the world and various modern furniture design references I found online. The planning phase (cutting parts, joinery and shaping) didn’t go as smoothly as expected, but I managed to reach the end goal. I cut a recess off camera in the back to clamp a tablet holder. Overall, the build process went well, with only a few mistakes along the way. Some joinery used in this build: hand-cut dovetails for the carcass, half-blind dovetails for the drawers front, rabbet/rebate and dado for the drawer back and a leg base assembled using a Tianli mortising jig with 6×40 mm Festool Domino tenons. Sanded from 80 to 240 grit and finished with hard wax oil. Thank you for watching.
