[Warframe SFM] Devoid: Tiles
This is the second part of my fan story called "Devoid". I highly recommend watching the first part, it's a lot less eventful compared to this one, but still very relevant! First part can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhVFf73DhXI -------------------------------------------------------- I finished it. I finally finished it. After a year of working on this one project by myself, It's complete. This has been the biggest project of my life so far and it's been a pretty big learning experience for me. And it's so cool that I can see my own animations slowly getting better and better with each scene. I took my sweet time with this project, never once rushing to finish a scene. Every scene was animated by my own hands. And to me, it was very well worth it. I've got a big passion for animated storytelling and Warframe. And so I made this whole thing cause I just really felt like it. It isn't often that I see any Warframe fan animations on this kind of scale, so I really wanted to make something that'll fill that gap. Hope you guys like it! Here's a bit of trivia of what I was thinking around the middle of making this project. Originally, I was going to have this animation end around the same point that the last Devoid animation ended. After the door locks behind the warframes, it would cut off. This animation would have been almost the same length as the first animation. About 3 minutes. After making it to that point, and re-watching the entire thing, I just felt very unsatisfied with it. I had realized I had made the exact same thing as the first Devoid animation and that there were so many unanswered questions like: What is this place and what's going on? Why was Mirage alone before the flashback started? How'd she get separated from her squad? Why was Mesa's Regulators separated from her? What was with that Excalibur Prime at the end of the first animation? I felt like I had wasted all that time. I had done barely anything to expand on this world I made. And so, I just said "screw it" and continued working, intent on answering some of these big questions and having it finally loop back to where Mirage was before the whole flashback started. And now I am finally satisfied. Why's there no dialogue/voice acting? That's just the way that I want to create this story. Having it all be told by actions and scenery rather than words. I just didn't feel having them talk would really fit well with what's going on. It's less about the characters' individual thoughts and opinions, and more about this world they've found themselves in. What is this place and what is its purpose? I'm leaving it up to you guys to piece it together and form your own theories. At the moment, there isn't enough to make a COMPLETE picture on what's going on. I am most definitely interested in making another part to the story, but that'll have to wait for a bit. What I have planned next for the story is very ambitious and will really push my knowledge of SFM and animation to the limit. There's a whole 'nother layer to this, and I'm going to make sure it's going to be as awesome and mind-blowing as I picture it to be. But before I can do that, I'm going to have to get some more practice in. I could never in a million years have made this without some talented people having ported these Warframe models into Source Filmmaker. Credit goes to Nikout13 for the following ported models: Grineer soldiers Mirage Rhino Atlas Excalibur Excalibur Prime Loki Prime Cleaver Galatine Grakata Gorgon Hek Soma Boltor Boltor Prime Credit goes to Coverop for the following ported models: Grineer and Corpus scene building props Corrupted Mask Liset Dex Dakra Dex Sybaris Ignis Thanks to Puxtril for the Dethcube and Dojo Room door model!
