I'm going to take a break from technique and focus on tactic. Oftentimes, as creatives, we get so locked in on a particular look that we forget about the purpose of our design. I'd venture to say that purpose in design trumps all. Here's an example: Check out my new skateboard deck. Compare it to the one I've been using. Yeah, it's just art on a skateboard, but it makes a difference on what I want to ride.
As an aside, both Anti-Hero and Madness make amazing skateboard decks. And, yes, a good deck makes a massive difference!
