AEC Evolution (1912 - 1979) Associated Equipment Company was a major British manufacturer of buses and trucks. It began in 1912 when the vehicle-building operations of the London General Omnibus Company were reorganized into a separate company called AEC in Walthamstow, London. Its first commercial product was a truck based on an existing bus chassis, and during World War I it built large numbers of lorries for the British Army using assembly line methods. Through the 1920s and 1930s, AEC produced well-known buses and trucks that used increasingly modern diesel engines. After World War II, it expanded by acquiring other firms and forming Associated Commercial Vehicles. In 1962, Leyland Motors bought ACV, and the AEC brand and vehicle production gradually wound down — with the last buses and trucks built under the AEC name by the late 1970s and the Southall plant closing around 1979. ——————————————————— ► Thanks for watching !
