W.C.E. - Hanomag Evolution (1871 - 1984)
Hanomag Evolution (1871 - 1984) The evolution of Hanomag began in 1871 in Hannover, where it first established itself as a global powerhouse in the production of massive steam locomotives. By 1912, the company pivoted toward the agricultural sector, developing early motorized plows that revolutionized farming. In the 1920s, Hanomag gained fame in the automotive world with the "Kommissbrot," a tiny, fuel-efficient car that became an early ancestor of the modern compact vehicle. During the 1930s and World War II, the company shifted its engineering focus toward military production, most notably creating the iconic Sd.Kfz. 251 half-track, which became a symbol of German mechanized infantry. Following the war, Hanomag enjoyed a golden era by producing robust tractors and trucks like the AL28, helping to rebuild Europe's infrastructure. However, by the late 1960s, financial pressures led to a merger with Henschel and eventually an acquisition by Daimler-Benz. The brand’s final transformation occurred in 1989 when it was taken over by the Japanese giant Komatsu. Today, while Hanomag no longer exists as an independent brand, its legacy continues through the production of high-end earth-moving machinery and excavators under the Komatsu umbrella. ——————————————————— ► Thanks for watching !
