Web Scraping | Freelance Tips | Python coding | Paid jobs | (Not just UpWork BS)
Freelance coding can be challenging, and mixing technical skills with business skills is not always easy. For a change we leave the office and go for a walk in the countryside and reflect on a few lessons learned from real world, paid web scraping and Python coding jobs. I rarely make a video like this as there are in my view, too many "lifestyle coders" - who make videos and spend 20 mins showing off their overpriced MacBook pro and IKEA furniture and latest sneakers and show about 1 minute of coding.... (Sorry if that's you - no offence). Anyway, in this video I'll cover VPN/Paid Proxies : which should you buy, which should the client pay for? I'll also discuss load balancers, and checking xpath/css selectors on-the-fly using regex. What do I mean by that? Well if you have a default code, or product number or id number, you can search the response from that search and track across the html and see if the corresponding xpath/css is still what you expect. If not, grab the newer id or class name and substitute that further down in your code. Do a pre-flight check of you selectors before you enter a for loop to grab the main data! The next videos will all be back to the desk, so fear not, the channel is not turning into a 'look at me, I'm making millions, and have a 34" screen' channel! No chapter times here, as you need to watch all of it! Thumbs up, subscribe, all that yeah? (Cos algos!)
