Week 12 updates, I cover various things

So, welcome to the 12th week of the semester if I remember correctly. So, this week you're either doing your persuasive speeches or you're doing kind of a reflection about them. 0:24 Scores One thing I want to note about your speeches or your reflections is that I'm making this video for all of my online classes. Some of my classes have already gotten their speeches graded. For those of you who did the presentations early or for those of you who posted early, um, you might see your most recent persuasive speech score already published. Like I said in last week's or the weeks before's video, um I actually did nitpick and actually grade you down this time. Uh because we're at a point in the semester where at this point you should know sort of the theories and the fundamentals. So certain aspects of your presentations that were not done well, I did actually grade you down on. So for those of you who already see your scores available, you can take account of my comments in your own reflection. So don't worry about that. If you feel that my comments are sort of unjustified in no particular way, that's totally okay. But just in general, for your reflections this week after you've done your speeches or after you see your speech scores, you can sort of think about the comments I leave you. Now, having said that, some of you might freak out about not having 100% on your percentage on your course title or something like that. 1:49 Extra Credit Tournament The other thing I want to just bring to your attention is that for the writing assignment about writing a speech for a tournament about climate change, there actually is going to be a tournament at West LA College, a speech tournament about climate action. I'm going to direct message all of you the details of that competition. If any of you want to compete, I will give you extra credit. So, if some of you are not doing too hot in class or you've missed a presentation or two presentations, like this will be a major extra credit boost for all of you. So, I will send out the speed tournament information all of you. 2:34 About Next Unit And last thing is that I wanted to give you a preview about what the final unit is going to be about. So the final unit starting on week 13 I believe is going to be about applying your presentation skills, taking your communication skills and creating media that is directed for a job. So just keep this in the back of your head. Consider whatever job or career you're thinking about and think about, oh, what kind of media do those people create for those job industries? because the final unit is going to be about creating career or job related content that both demonstrates your communication skills but also something useful for you that helps you demonstrate knowledge in the career or some type of skill in the career that you want. Conclusion So that's pretty much it. So here's the TLDDR. Number one, this is this week you should be doing reflections or like posting your speeches if you haven't done those already. Uh second for the reflection and for the reflections I have been pretty on point grading stuff quickly so you should see your scores relatively quickly. Second thing if some of you have like a low grade um one of the assignments about making a speech for a speech tournament is a real thing. I'll send you the information but in general one of the assignments which help you prepare for a speech tournament if you want extra credit. And then third, think about what job or career you're trying to go into because the final unit is going to have you create content for that particular job.
