Well Done
In tribute to my friend, brother, and mentor: Roger Burton: There are some lives… that don’t just pass through time— they carve a trail through the mountains of our own. Roger… you were that kind of man. You ran the race with a steady courage, a faith that held strong even when the storms tried to take you down. Where others might have folded under sorrow, you leaned harder into Jesus. And He met you there— more than enough, every time. You lived without complaint, without self-pity, without pulling the world toward your pain. Instead, you lifted us. You showed us what love looks like in a marriage… in a family… in a brotherhood. You showed us what faithfulness actually means. And when we wanted to quit— when the walls felt too high, the nights too long— your courage became our encouragement. Your life whispered: “Don’t give up. Lean into Christ. Let go of yourself. Hold on to Him.” Well done, faithful servant. You didn’t just leave memories— you left a legacy that will outlive every one of us. You listened to our fears, our failures, our raw questions. You made room for the mess, and you walked with us through it. Coffee in the dark mornings. Thin-air conversations high above the tree line. Moments on your patio watching hummingbirds dance while we tried to understand our own hearts. A lifetime of small brush strokes painting something eternal. We grew because of you. We changed because of you. Some of us stand today because you stood with us back then. You gave us mountains— fourteeners, winding trails, the gift of quiet places where the voice of God echoes softer and clearer. You taught us grit, how to try again after failure, how to worship in altitude and difficulty. You showed us what a man of God looks like when no one else is watching. And now… now you are seeing the One you’ve longed for your entire life. The One who called you, carried you, and welcomed you home. We’re not far behind you— just a breath, just a blink. But until then, your footprints on the trail will keep guiding us upward. Well done, brother. Well done, humble warrior. Well done, beloved friend. Rest in the joy of God. We will see you soon.
