Last episode we sat in the TAB contractor’s seat. Today we flip it. You are the controls tech, it’s 6 AM, the TAB crew just walked in, and for the next two days you and that crew need to get a building commissioned without killing each other. This is the last episode of BAS Fundamentals — a finale built for the person at the laptop. Your three jobs: • ENABLE — lock the system so he can read stable numbers. Four concrete writes: disable optimum start, fix AHU static setpoint, put supply fan in manual at full, release VAV minimum resets. • TRANSLATE — “override all VAVs to design max” is not one command. Pressure-independent? Write to commanded airflow. Pressure-dependent? Write to damper position. Know each box’s mode before he shows up. • DOCUMENT — every override gets a row. Point name, value, priority, timestamp, reason. Walk the list together at end of day. Release each one. Plus the stuff the TAB contractor doesn’t know unless you tell him: — your old fan VFD maxes out at 1.05”, not the 1.20” the plans call for — field-controller trend buffer dies in 20 minutes at 5-second intervals on 30 points (use the supervisor) — series fan disable on fan-powered boxes changes the answer for his hood Priority array matters. K-factor context matters. Your name is on whatever this building does tomorrow. Good luck out there. --- Timestamps 00:00 — 6 AM. TAB crew rolls up. 00:32 — The truth: he’s a specialist, not your enemy 00:55 — Your three jobs 01:23 — Job 1 · Enable — four concrete writes 01:54 — Job 2 · Translate — pressure-independent vs pressure-dependent VAV 02:27 — Priority array — write above the sequence 02:48 — Don’t give numbers alone — hand over the context 03:31 — Job 3 · Document — the override list 03:57 — Tell him what he can’t see — old fans and real static 04:33 — Trend memory: field controller vs supervisor 04:57 — Fan-powered box warning 05:14 — Recap · the finale signoff
