What a night (E161)
What a night it was last night, so wild and so bright, like reality slipped off and vanished from sight. I call up my boss with a polite little tone, “just thanks for the evening…” though my sense is half gone. “What a night it was last night, thank you for all,” while my memories wobble and threaten to fall. It started quite calm with a glass in my hand, then turned into chaos I didn’t quite plan. I spilled red wine on your wife in a flash, she smiled like an angel while I felt the crash. “Just red wine,” I muttered, pretending it’s fine, while dignity quietly stepped out of the line. And the site manager too… what a curious scene, locked out on the balcony, cold in between. The door shut behind him a bit too fast, “don’t worry, it’s sorted,” I said as I passed. He stood there and shouted into wind and air, while I waved from inside without a single care. “It’s fine!” I laughed, far too sure of my role, while logic took leave and abandoned control. “See you on Monday!” I said with a grin, until someone reminded me I wasn’t coming in. “Oh… not that?” I replied, slightly confused, like schedules were jokes I casually used. My phone kept on buzzing, I answered it wrong, and thanked my poor boss like a cheerful song. “For a night to remember!” I typed in the chat, now I mostly remember a cognitive gap. So thank you for chaos, for laughter, for flair, for moments that floated away in thin air. For wine-stained missteps and decisions unclear, for a night that still echoes when Monday is near. And maybe next time I’ll learn in advance: don’t hand out my judgment to last night’s chance.
