You know when these delays occurred and the duration of the delay. You know what activities the delays impacted but you don't know the impact on the overall completion date. This is where the impacted as planned method can help you. The Impacted As-Planned Method is one of six delay methodologies we can use to identify and assess project delays. To identify the delay using this method, we take the original project schedule, identify each of the delay events, and then insert each of these delay events into that original plan. We then compare the original plan against the plan with the inserted delay events, with the difference between the two, being the overall delay. This is a relatively simple delay assessment but requires a logic linked schedule and clear identification of the delay events. Criticism of this methodology usually focuses on it being a hypothetical model, as often the delay events modelled do not relate to the actual time they occurred. It is also unsuitable for projects that have undergone major changes and can be problematic if not all delay events are identified. We can use another method to make sure with identify the delay events that are impacting the overall completion date of project. This is the time slice or windows method. I will introduce you to the time slice or windows method in Core Project Advisory’s next video, so make sure to like this video and subscribe to be sure not to miss it. #delayassessment #impactedasplannedmethod #delaymethodology #projectmanagement
