Welcome, my name is Phil, and in this video I discuss what planetary differentiation is.
The process of planetary differentiation occurs when the chemical components of a planetary body begin to collect in various parts of that body as a result of their physical or chemical behaviour (such as density and chemical affinities). Partially melting with heat from radioactive isotope decay and planetary accretion influence the process of planetary differentiation. Planetary differentiation has occurred on planets, dwarf planets, Vesta, an asteroid, and natural satellites (such as the Moon).
