Unit–1: What is Syntax?
INTRODUCTION TO SYNTAX
Syntax is a branch of linguistics that studies how words are arranged to form phrases, clauses, and sentences. It explains sentence structure and word order in a language. In simple words, syntax tells us how to put words together correctly to make meaningful sentences. For example, in English we say “I am a teacher,” not “Teacher am I.” Syntax helps us understand why one sentence sounds right while another sounds wrong. It is an important part of grammar and plays a major role in communication.
