What is Virtue Ethics?
Virtue ethics is an ethical theory that emphasizes the person's virtues or moral character. Unlike the other approaches in normative ethics (deontology and consequentialism), it does not provide the moral agent with specific principles or rules to guide her actions. Hence, it does not particularly deal with the rightness or wrongness of an action. Rather, with the help of practical wisdom ("phronesis"), it guides the moral agent in seeking the good and becoming virtuous.
